    摘要: A device for preventing an accelerator from being erroneously operated when an accelerator pedal of a motor vehicle is erroneously pushed down includes a magnetic coupling device comprising an accelerator interlocking member interlocking with an accelerator pedal and a throttle interlocking member connected to a throttle cable. When the accelerator pedal is pushed down during normal operation the throttle cable is operated through the magnetic coupling device to cause the motor vehicle to be accelerated. When the accelerator pedal (14) is erroneously pushed down in spite of the brake pedal being intended to be pushed down, the magnetic coupling device decouples and prevents the throttle valve from being operated and the motor vehicle from being accelerated.

    摘要: A particulate and exhaust emission control system for a vehicle (10) having a diesel engine (12). The control system has a particulate trap (24) connected to the exhaust manifold (22) of the diesel engine, an additive tank (30) for storing a fuel additive decomposed by the engine's combustion process to form a reducible metal oxide capable of depressing the ignition temperature of the carbon particulates collected by the particulate trap (24) and a metering mechanism (34) responsive to the adding of diesel fuel to the vehicle's fuel tank (28) to add a quantity of the fuel additive to the diesel fuel in the fuel tank (28) to maintain a predetermined ratio of the fuel additive to the diesel fuel in the tank. The metal oxide depressing the ignition temperature of the carbon particulates collected by the particulate trap (24) to a temperature obtained by the particulate trap during selected operating parameters of the diesel engine (12). The particulate trap (24) includes a honeycomb ceramic filter element (38) having inlet channels (44) for collecting the carbon particulate and exit channels (46) coated with a catalyst to oxidize carbon monoxide and unburned hydrocarbons in the exhaust.

    摘要: A vehicle is equipped with an engine control ECU, an anti-lock brake system control ECU, a transmission control ECU and a meter control ECU. Each ECU shares information with the others by communicating and by performing mutual malfunction diagnosis operations through communication; also, backup operations are performed. After the deactuation of the ignition switch, malfunction diagnosis operations are prohibited by prohibiting communication between the engine control ECU which is supplied with electric power and the other ECUs which are not supplied with electric power. After the deactuation of the ignition switch, when a predetermined time lapses after the actuation of the ignition switch from the state wherein the ECU is supplied with power, prohibition on communication with ECUs is released.

In that arrangement the regulating element (50) of the inlet duct (40) can be adapted to be controllable and a controllable regulating element (80) can also be arranged in particular in the mouth opening region of the exhaust duct (70). As a result the internal combustion engine can be operated in such a way that the exhaust duct (70) can be closed in dependence on an operating parameter of the internal combustion engine.
