Abstract: An end effector for use with a surgical stapling instrument is disclosed. The end effector comprises a first jaw, a second jaw movable relative to the first jaw to grasp tissue therebetween, and a staple cartridge. The staple cartridge comprises staples deployable into the tissue. The end effector further comprises a magnetic sensor configured to measure a parameter indicative of an identifying characteristic of the staple cartridge, an impedance sensor configured to measure a parameter indicative of an impedance of the tissue, and a processing unit in communication with the impedance sensor. The processing unit is configured to determine a property of the tissue based on an output of the impedance sensor.

Abstract: A voltage transient detector includes circuitry for transmitting electrical current through a light emitting diode and a fuse that is serially connected between the light emitting diode and a reference potential, such that the light emitting diode is illuminated when the fuse is not blown. The voltage transient detector also includes circuitry for transmitting a controlled amount of electrical current through the fuse in conjunction with an occurrence of a voltage transient at a voltage measurement location, where the voltage transient exceeds a set transient threshold voltage. The controlled amount of electrical current transmitted through the fuse causing the fuse to blow and the light emitting diode to turn off, thereby indicating occurrence of the voltage transient at the voltage measurement location.

Abstract: A switching device 1 includes a SiC semiconductor chip 11 which has a gate pad 14, a source pad 13 and a drain pad 12 and in which on-off control is performed between the source and the drain by applying a drive voltage between the gate and the source in a state where a potential difference is applied between the source and the drain, a sense source terminal 4 electrically connected to the source pad 13 for applying the drive voltage, and an external resistance (source wire 16) that is interposed in a current path between the sense source terminal 4 and the source pad 13, is separated from sense source terminal 4, and has a predetermined size.

Abstract: A high-voltage direct current cut-off device, includes: a primary mechanical switch and a secondary mechanical switch placed successively between a primary point and a secondary point but either side of an intermediate point, a primary surge arrester arranged parallel with the primary switch, a secondary surge arrester arranged electrically parallel with the secondary switch. The secondary surge arrester is arranged electrically between the intermediate point and the secondary point, and in that the device comprises a capacitive buffer circuit electrically in parallel with the assembly formed by the primary switch and the secondary switch, and electrically in parallel with the assembly formed by the primary surge arrester and the secondary surge arrester, wherein the capacitive buffer circuit comprises an activation switch and a buffer capacitance.

Abstract: A driver and protection circuit for driving a power switch is disclosed. The driver and protection circuit includes a fault detection block configured to detect a discrepancy between a reference drive signal and a measured voltage at a gate of the power switch. The driver and protection circuit also includes a short circuit detection block configured to detect a gate-to-source short circuit or a gate-to-drain short circuit of the power switch. The driver and protection circuit further includes a latch coupled to the fault detection block and the short circuit detection block to selectively turn off an output driver coupled to the gate of the power switch when a fault or a short circuit is detected, and wherein the latch is configured to send a diagnostic signal when the fault or the short circuit is detected.

Abstract: A step-down circuit has a switch connected in series between a direct current power supply and a load. A switch control circuit is configured to turn the switch off when the voltage across the load is higher than a predetermined first threshold and turn the switch on when the voltage across the load is lower than the first threshold. An energy storage unit is charged by the power supply when the switch is on and supply power to the load when the switch is off. An overcurrent protection circuit turns the switch off when the input current of the switch is higher than a predetermined second threshold.
