摘要: A method of fabricating a precoated steel plate, the method including coating a steel plate by dipping the steel plate in a molten bath to obtain a precoat upon the steel plate, wherein the precoat includes an intermetallic alloy layer and a metal alloy layer. The intermetallic alloy layer is topped by the metal alloy layer. On at least one face of the plate, the metal alloy layer is removed in an area at a periphery of the plate using a laser beam, while leaving at least part of the intermetallic alloy layer in the area. The at least part of the intermetallic layer in the area has a thickness between 3 and 10 micrometers thick.

摘要: A test method is provided to reproducibly test under matched HY100 welds to robustly establish the production parameters for the welding process. The test method comprises forming a ‘U’ shaped groove in a plate to which steel members are welded on the reverse side. The steel members comprise transverse members that extend across the weld. The transverse members are arranged at a density of at least four members for each 0.5 m length of weld and preferably five transverse members. The steel members further comprise longitudinal stiffeners that extend parallel to the weld. The longitudinal stiffeners are arranged at a density of two stiffeners per 0.4 m width of the plate. The high density of stiffeners has provided a reproducible and reliable weld test method that is capable of being used to establish and approve production parameters for the welding process of under matched HY100 welds.

摘要: A valve for use in an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The valve includes a stem friction welded to a head portion. The head portion is cast from a single crystal metal using a casting process that creates little or no grain boundaries. The single crystal metal can be a nickel based superalloys such as CMSX-4, CMSX 3, Rene N5, and Rene N6. By having little or no grain boundaries, defects that occur in other types of casting material, such as large numbers of grain boundaries can be minimized. This allows the head portion and particularly the combustion face to withstand an operating temperature in the combustion chamber in excess of 850° C.

摘要: A micro end mill includes a shank made of a first material and a cutting tip made of a second, different material that is bonded to the shank. The first material can be, for example, carbide or high speed steel (HSS), and the second material can be, for example, cubic boron nitride (CBN), polycrystalline cubic boron nitride (PCBN), ceramic or polycrystalline diamond (PCD). The micro end mill is manufactured by producing a billet made of Superhard material using laser radiation, bonding the billet to a shank of the end mill, and removing material from the billet using laser radiation to produce a cutting tip made of the Superhard material. The laser radiation may comprise a laser beam encased in a water jet or a laser beam with a non-Gaussian intensity profile.

摘要: For butt-welding, which includes bringing joining end surfaces of a cup member and a shaft member into abutment against each other and radiating a high energy intensity beam from a radially outer side, the shaft member has a recess on a radially inner side of the joining end surface to obtain a welded portion having a closed hollow cavity on a radially inner side after butt-welding. The joining end surface (protruding surface) of the cup member protrudes toward a radially inner side with respect to an inner diameter of the joining end surface of the shaft member. With this, a welded portion of an outer joint member of a constant velocity universal joint, which is manufactured by joining the cup member and the shaft member, can be improved in strength and quality.

摘要: A solid wire is for gas-shielded arc welding, using a shielding gas, and for galvanized steel sheet welding. The solid wire comprises, to the mass of the whole of the solid wire, predetermined amount of C, Si, Mn, P, S, O, and Cr, with the balance consisting Fe and inevitable impurities. The solid wire satisfies “1.0≦(percentage by mass of Si+that by mass of Mn)/{100(that by mass of S+that by mass of O}≦4.0” and “0.50≦percentage by mass of Mn/that by mass of Si≦2.00”. The shielding gas is an Ar gas comprising 25 to 40% of CO2 gas. It is achieved to improve spatter-decreasing performance and pore-resisting performance (performance of restraining the generation of porosity defects, such as pits and blowholes).
