摘要: The present invention relates to the separation and capture of carbon-containing compounds from gases. Specifically, the present invention relates to the use of rare-earth based compounds for the capture and separation of carbon-containing compounds from gases. The carbon capture processes can be integrated into fossil fuel power generation plants or other industrial process plants in order to reduce emission of greenhouse gases from the plants.

摘要: A method of dissociating or decomposing the elemental components of a medium within a treatment zone via application of radio frequency energy. The selected medium may be communicated to a treatment zone, such as a chamber, wherein the chamber walls and/or a plurality of antenna disposed within the chamber or treatment zone emit radio frequency energy capable of separating the elemental components of the selected medium. The plurality of antenna may further comprise a chemical coating disposed thereon to facilitate the medium separation process. Denser elemental components may be removed from a bottom portion of the chamber or treatment zone, while lighter elemental components may be removed from an upper portion of the chamber or treatment zone. A vacuum pump or any other means known within the art may be used to remove the elemental components from the chamber or treatment zone.

摘要: A system to control the emissions of a fluid stream in a cyclical fashion utilizing an up-flow cycle and a down-flow cycle. The system may include a first inlet and a first outlet at a first end of the system and a second inlet and a second outlet at a second end of the system, a catalyst zone between the first end and second end, two heat transfer zones, at least one heat transfer zone positioned between the catalyst zone and the first end of the system and between the catalyst zone and the second end of the system, and two heating zones, at least one heating zone positioned between the catalyst zone and each of the at least one heat transfer zones. The symmetrical arrangement permits a bi-directional fluid cycle to recover a portion of the energy supplied to the system during each cycle.

摘要: Systems and methods for treating a fluid with a body are disclosed. Various aspects involve treating a fluid with a porous body. In select embodiments, a body comprises ash particles, and the ash particles used to form the body may be selected based on their providing one or more desired properties for a given treatment. Various bodies provide for the reaction and/or removal of a substance in a fluid, often using a porous body comprised of ash particles. Computer-operable methods for matching a source material to an application are disclosed. Certain aspects feature a porous body comprised of ash particles, the ash particles have a particle size distribution and interparticle connectivity that creates a plurality of pores having a pore size distribution and pore connectivity, and the pore size distribution and pore connectivity are such that a first fluid may substantially penetrate the pores.

摘要: Methods of making supported monolithic gold (Au) catalysts that can be used for generating a hydrogen-rich gas from gas mixtures containing carbon monoxide, hydrogen and water via a water gas shift reaction, and for the removal of carbon monoxide from air at a low reaction temperature via its oxidation reaction are described. Methods of making highly dispersed gold catalysts on washcoated monoliths and the stabilization of monolithic catalyst supports by the addition of a third metal oxide, such as zirconia (ZrO2), lanthanum oxide (La2O3), or manganese oxide (MnxOy). The catalyst supports and/or washcoats may include a variety of transition metal oxides such as alpha iron oxide (α-Fe2O3), cerium oxide (CeO2), ZrO2, gamma alumina (γ-Al2O3), or their combinations.

摘要: A gas purifier assembly for providing first (50) and second (38) purified gas streams having an integral heater (54). The assembly can have two separate chambers for gaseous fluid flow for the purpose of purifying a gas stream of hydrogen (34), for example, and a separate distinct stream of gas such as compressed air (46). A centrally located heater heats the first chamber to effect purification of the first gas. Waste heat from the first chamber is transferred to the second chamber via conduction to effect purification of the second gas stream.
