Abstract: A wireless stethoscope is described, having wireless sensors that are enclosed in disposable pads so that the same pads are not used on more than one patient, preventing cross-infection of patients associated with conventional stethoscopes. The present wireless stethoscope also detects pulmonary sounds and cardiac sounds, allowing the user to monitor one or the other without interference. Also described is a method for diagnosing a pulmonary condition using the wireless stethoscope.

Abstract: The present invention includes systems and methods directed towards a wearable device (100, 200) that can measure health parameters in two levels. The wearable device can measure a health parameter of a user using an attached sensor (112). This sensor measurement is checked against a threshold database (126, 146, 156) that details an action to be taken if the sensor measurement satisfies a health threshold. The health can be predetermined by the user or by a professional. This action can be a request to the user of the wearable device to move the wearable device to another part of his/her body so that the wearable device can gather a second sensor measurement that can provide more detail or context for the first sensor measurement. The wearable device can thus provide two levels of sensor data measurement, which it can store and synchronize to storage on a network/cloud service (104) or to another electronic device (102).

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for monitoring fatigue and notifying an individual are described. The individual may be an operator of a vehicle, equipment, or machine, a student, or other person that may experience fatigue. Motion of the individual is monitored to detect a predescribed motion in response to a stimulus to first determine a base responsiveness profile. Afterwards, a current responsiveness profile is determined based on a prescribed motion in response to a stimulus, and if the current responsiveness profile exceeds a predetermined threshold of the base responsiveness profile, a notification is issued to the individual and, optionally, another person such as an employer, teacher, or parent.

Abstract: Various embodiments of a fall prediction system and method of using such system are disclosed. The system includes a hearing device for a wearer, a sensor operatively connected to the hearing device and adapted to detect a characteristic of the wearer and generate a sensor signal based on the characteristic, and a controller operatively connected to the hearing device. The controller is adapted to determine a fall risk value based on the sensor signal, compare the fall risk value to a fall risk threshold, and generate a fall prevention output if the fall risk value exceeds the fall risk threshold.

Abstract: A WCD system is configured to detect when a therapy administered to a patient by the WCD system is unsuccessful, and in response determine whether to send notifications to remote non-witness responders. The WCD system may be configured to decide to send such notifications after the WCD system determines it has administered a predetermined number of unsuccessful shocks to the patient. The predetermined number of unsuccessful shocks may be the maximum number of unsuccessful shocks the WCD system will administer to a patient, or every Xth shock (e.g., 3rd shock). The WCD system can be configured to periodically resend the notification. The notifications may be in form of SMS, voice messages, emails, app notifications, etc. sent to cell phones, smartphones, computers, laptops, tablets etc. of the responders either directly, via a server, or via a CAD-coupled server.
