Abstract: Virtual machine (VM) proliferation may be reduced through the use of Virtual Server Agents (VSAs) assigned to a group of VM hosts that may determine the availability of a VM to perform a task. Tasks may be assigned to existing VMs instead of creating a new VM to perform the task. Furthermore, a VSA coordinator may determine a grouping of VMs or VM hosts based on one or more factors associated with the VMs or the VM hosts, such as VM type or geographical location of the VM hosts. The VSA coordinator may also assign one or more VSAs to facilitate managing the group of VM hosts. In some embodiments, the VSA coordinators may facilitate load balancing of VSAs during operation, such as during a backup operation, a restore operation, or any other operation between a primary storage system and a secondary storage system.

Abstract: A data-driven intelligent networking system that can facilitate global fairness is provided. The system can maintain state information of individual packet flows, which can be set up or released dynamically based on injected data. Each flow can be provided with a flow-specific input queue upon arriving at a switch. Packets of a respective flow are acknowledged after reaching the egress point of the network, and the acknowledgement packets are sent back to the ingress point of the flow along the same data path. As a result, each switch can obtain state information of each flow and enforce global fairness on a per-flow basis.

Abstract: Technologies for providing predictive thermal management include a compute device. The compute device includes a compute engine and an execution assistant device to assist the compute engine in the execution of a workload. The compute engine is configured to obtain a profile that relates a utilization factor indicative of a present amount of activity of the execution assistant device to a predicted temperature of the execution assistant device, determine, as the execution assistant device assists in the execution of the workload, a value of the utilization factor of the execution assistant device, determine, as a function of the determined value of the utilization factor and the obtained profile, the predicted temperature of the execution assistant device, determine whether the predicted temperature satisfies a predefined threshold temperature, and adjust, in response to a determination that the predicted temperature satisfies the predefined threshold temperature, an operation of the compute device to reduce the predicted temperature. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.

Abstract: A graphics processing apparatus that includes at least a memory device and an execution unit coupled to the memory. The memory device can store a command buffer with at least one command that is dependent on completion of at least one other command. The command buffer can include a jump command that causes a jump to a location in the command buffer to identify any unscheduled command. The execution unit is to jump to a location in the command buffer based on execution of the jump command. The execution unit is to perform one or more jumps to one or more locations in the command buffer to attempt to schedule a command with dependency on completion of at least one other command until the command with a dependency on completion of at least one other command is scheduled.

Abstract: Technologies for dividing work across one or more accelerator devices include a compute device. The compute device is to determine a configuration of each of multiple accelerator devices of the compute device, receive a job to be accelerated from a requester device remote from the compute device, and divide the job into multiple tasks for a parallelization of the multiple tasks among the one or more accelerator devices, as a function of a job analysis of the job and the configuration of each accelerator device. The compute engine is further to schedule the tasks to the one or more accelerator devices based on the job analysis and execute the tasks on the one or more accelerator devices for the parallelization of the multiple tasks to obtain an output of the job.

Abstract: A multi-layer database sizing stack may generate prescriptive tier requisition tokens for controlling requisition of database-compute resources at database-compute tiers. The input layer of the database sizing stack may obtain historical data. The threading layer may be used to flag occurrences of single threading application execution. The change layer may be used to determine potential for a step based on compute utilization type data and assert flags indicating the potential. The step layer may determine if potential steps may be taken based on operation-rate type data and flush type data. The requisition layer may generate a tier requisition token based on the provisional requisition tokens generated at other layers and/or finalization directives obtained at the requisition layer.
