The invention relates to a process for the production of pseudolatices or micro- and/or nanoparticles, in which a polymer is crystalline, partially crystalline or amorphous, is selected from cellulose derivatives, poly(meth)acrylates, shellac, polylactides, polylactide/polyglycolide mixtures, polyhydroxy butyric acids or polycyanoacrylates and is heated to a temperature above its glass transition temperature and then high-pressure homogenized in water or an aqueous buffer solution and this suspension is converted, if necessary, into micro- and/or nanoparticles by drying. Medicaments can be worked into the pseudolatices, micro- and/or nanoparticles.

A stable liquid suspension composition comprising a liquid carrier, a solid fatty acid or a salt thereof, and a solid particulate is disclosed wherein said liquid carrier is selected from the group consisting of oils, olefins, terpenes, glycols, esters, ethers, alcohols, and combinations of any two or more thereof and said liquid carrier, solid fatty acid or salt thereof, and solid particulate are each present in said composition in a stabilizing amount sufficient to produce a stable liquid suspension. Also disclosed is a stable liquid composition comprising a liquid carrier, an oil-soluble polymer, and a solid particulate wherein said liquid carrier is selected from the group consisting of liquid alkenes, terpenes, esters, and combinations of any two or more thereof and said liquid carrier, oil-soluble polymer, and solid particulate are each present in said composition in a stabilizing amount sufficient to effect the formation of a stable liquid suspension.

Methods and systems for readily and economically manufacturing hydraulically settable articles, particularly containers, from microstructurally engineered hydraulically settable mixtures. The mixture is pressed between a male die of a desired shape and a female die having a substantially complimentary configuration of the male die shape to immediately fashion a portion of the mixture into a form stable shape for the desired article. To assist in imparting form stability, the dies can be heated or cooled. Once the article has obtained form stability, the article is removed from the dies and dried under heated air to gain strength. The article can then receive printing or a coating, if desired, prior to packaging, shipping, and use.

A polymer composition, a process for the production of a polymer composition, in particular of an absorbent, are disclosed which substantially consist of a special component A based on renewable polysaccharide raw materials, a special component B consisting of a water-soluble polymer, a matrix material, an ionic and/or covalent cross-linking agent, or an anti-blocking agent, which is obtainable in that the water-swellable polymer is brought together with the polysaccharide polymer, that these are dried and ground then, the other components are added, and mixing up to homogeneity is effected followed by a heat treatment, and that during the addition of the cross-linking agent, after said heat treatment, the same is optionally fixed by the matrix by means of a final heat treatment. Additionally the use of this polymer composition and (animal) hygiene items and chemico-technical products are disclosed which comprise a previously manufactured polymer composition.

A particulate co-processed unattrited microcrystalline cellulose:hydrocolloid composition wherein the respective components are present in a weight ratio of from about 99:1 to 70:30. The composition is useful as a spheronizing agent for producing spheroids of uniform size and sphericity and having high drug loadings. The composition is produced by drying a slurry of the microcrystalline cellulose in an aqueous solution of the hydrocolloid. The preferred hydrocolloid is methylcellulose.

A polymer composition, in particular an absorbent composition or an active substance-containing depot material are disclosed which substantially consist of a water-soluble and/or water-swellable polymer based on polysaccharides as the main component, and of a water-swellable polymer as further component, used as polymeric components, and of a matrix material for the prevention of separation and gel blocking, an ionic or covalent cross-linking agent, a reactive additive, as well as of an anti-blocking agent. Additionally, their production and use as well as (animal) hygiene items and chemico-technical products are disclosed which comprise these polymer compositions or absorbent compositions.

Compositions and methods for manufacturing sheets having a hydraulically settable matrix are disclosed. Suitable compositions are prepared by mixing together a hydraulic binder, water, and appropriate additives (such as aggregates, fibers, and rheology-modifying agents) which impart predetermined properties so that a sheet formed therefrom has the desired performance criteria. The compositions are formed into sheets by first extruding them into a sheet and then calendering the sheet using a set of rollers. The calendered sheets are dried in an accelerated manner to form a substantially hardened sheet. The drying is performed by heated rollers and/or a drying chamber. The hydraulically settable sheets so formed may have properties substantially similar to sheets made from presently used materials like paper, cardboard, polystyrene, or plastic. Such sheets can be rolled, pressed, scored, perforated, folded, and glued. They have especial utility in the mass production of containers, particularly food and beverage containers.

This invention applies to methods for creating opaque indicia on substrate surfaces and to non-pigmented, moisture-free, jet ink compositions containing only solvents and solvent soluble resins and dyes that exhibit the acceptable characteristics of opacity, contrast, adhesion and machine compatibility. The compositions are on weight percentage basis as stated below. The compositions contain a combination of film forming resins of varying molecular weights of a dry resin solids percentage between 8 and 15%. The resins are chosen from the following: nitrates of cellulose; acrylics; alkyds; vinyl acetate-vinyl chloride copolymers; and styrene acrylic. The quantities of resin are chosen according to the desired viscosity, adhesion strength of film on the subject substrate and the degree of shearing of the drying resin mixture. An optimum balance of adhesion and opacity is stoichiometrically obtained. The differential solubilities of the resins in the solvent-blend is the prime moving factor of the opacifying action. The use of acid dyes and basic salts that exhibit fluorescence is considered and used in the formulations to enhance the visibility and contrast of the resultant opacified dried state of resin solids on the substrate surface. The use of specific plasticizers are another feature of this invention. Plasticizers are used in the ink jet composition to increase the flowability of the composition and also increase the tensile strength and adhesion of the ink to the substrate to which it is applied. The principle of this invention is that a water-free, multi-solvent and multi-resin jet ink which characteristically forms micro laminate miscelli and plasticizers is found to have good adhesion and opacity, and can be used to mark code and indicate non-absorbent dark substrates.
