    摘要: A graphics system including a custom graphics and audio processor produces exciting 2D and 3D graphics and surround sound. The system includes a graphics and audio processor including a 3D graphics pipeline and an audio digital signal processor. The graphics system has a graphics processor includes an embedded frame buffer for storing frame data prior to sending the frame data to an external location, such as main memory. The embedded frame buffer is selectively configurable to store the following pixel formats: point sampled RGB color and depth, super-sampled RGB color and depth, and YUV (luma/chroma). Graphics commands are provided which enable the programmer to configure the embedded frame buffer for any of the pixel formats on a frame-by-frame basis.

    摘要: In order to efficiently conduct the display processing of a GUI screen by suppressing the drawing of unnecessary objects, the objects are, first, searched from the front toward the rear according to a reverse painter's algorithm while tracing a z-order for processing the drawing. In this step, flags necessary for the drawing may be raised instead of drawing the objects, and a z-buffer needs not be provided. The objects can be really drawn from the rear toward the front according to a painter's algorithm.

    摘要: To mix first and second digital image data at a ratio defined by pixel-unit mixing-ratio information, mixing-ratio information is embedded, in each of pixel data formed from a plurality of bits in the first digital image data, as information of more than one bit in the pixel data. The mixing-ratio information is extracted from the first digital image data. The first and second digital image data are mixed at the ratio defined by the extracted mixing-ratio information. Thus, images can be mixed together with the α blending technique without having to use any special memory such as the α memory.

    摘要: A method of changing an image size includes changing a size of the original image at least in a horizontal direction by interpolating data in an interpolation pixel between predetermined pixels in each of the unit areas of the original image according to a set horizontal increasing scale factor. Each of the unit areas includes a plurality of first boundary pixels arranged along a vertical virtual boundary line between two of the unit areas adjacent in the horizontal direction in the frame. In the image size changing step, the interpolation pixel is set between pixels other than the first boundary pixels.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for quickly copying a first frame region into a second frame region. A video memory array comprising a plurality of video random access memory devices is divided into at least two frame regions. A background image is rendered by a central processing unit into a background frame region within the video memory array. The central processing unit then requests the background image in the background frame region to be copied into a new frame region in the video memory array. A dedicated circuit copies the entire background image in the background frame region into the new frame region. The dedicated circuit operates by using a serial data register within each video random access memory device during the vertical retrace period of a video timing signal. The dedicated circuit performs the background frame copy without requiring any processing resources from the central processing unit.
